Happy Sunday dear readers,

It’s Memorial Day Weekend. Peonies, parades and backyard BBQs mark the beginning of summer; but let’s not forget that Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died in service to our country. It seems especially important that we remember the origins of this day in this moment.

Poets, writers and artists are our prophets in times like these, so in between picnics, race cars, ballgames and barbecues, take time to listen to “The Boss” as he reminds us of what we are facing. This video has gone viral over the past week , but it’s worth another listen.

Let’s make summer 2025 a democracy summer. Grab your sunscreen and get yourself to as many rallies and protests as possible. Take someone with you! Be brave enough to have courageous conversation with those who are a bit bewildered about what is happening. Be a voice of clarity.

Elections matter. This summer will be a season of ‘finding out’ the destruction the 2024 election has done and continues to do to our state, our country and the world. We have healing work to do.
